THE National Trust in Herefordshire has a packed programme of autumnal activities starting at the weekend with Croft Castle’s ‘Hallowe’en Spooktacular’. This family event promises fun for everyone, with pumpkin carving, face painting and broomstick making. There will also be a spooky family trail where you can find out more about ‘The ghosts of Croft’, which runs throughout the half term holiday.
For adults there will be an after-hours tour of the castle on offer on Friday, October 31 from 7pm – a must for anyone interested in the paranormal. This evening tour will take you around the castle and investigate the reported hauntings; tickets also include a light supper in the Croft tea-room.
Close by at Berrington Hall there will also be a family trail each day – ‘The beast of Berrington Hall’ invites you to find out what has been lurking in the grounds of the mansion.
On Sunday, Berrington’s annual firework display will take place. This hugely popular event starts at 4pm with live music, children’s activities and burgers, hotdogs and other bonfire night fare. The mansion itself has extended opening hours and will remain open for visitors until 7.30pm. The fireworks will start at 7pm prompt.
