PUBS, cafes, takeaways and restaurants in Herefordshire will have their cleanliness published online after the council signed up to be part of the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme.

Four years after joining the Scores on the Doors scheme – which encouraged eateries to put the results of food hygiene inspections on show in their doors or windows – Herefordshire Council will now use the national Food Hygiene Rating Scheme (FHRS) to publish ratings following kitchen inspections on a dedicated website.

The scheme is designed to give residents information about the hygiene standards of local kitchens, along with supermarkets and food shops.

The FHRS website will allow people to compare kitchens in Herefordshire with others around the country, knowing they have all been scored using the same criteria.

Ratings for Herefordshire premises will be available online at food.gov.uk/ratings
