Anna Powell of Peterchurch, Herefordshire, says no need for pub to disturb villagers
8:00am Monday 20th August 2012 in Letters
I WAS appalled to read about the landlord of the Crown and Anchor in Lugwardine commenting that residents in Traherne Close are “just people waiting to die” because of complaints about noise made against his business (Hereford Times, July 26).
How dare he. Lugwardine is a country village. People move to the country for a quiet life.
They do not want their peaceful village rocked by music blasting away from bands or discos until well past midnight.
Whereas one can respect Mr Clifford wanting to make the most of his business, this can be done by serving excellent food and beverages. Loud music does not go hand in hand with this. He does not need to run roughshod over the villagers. This former SAS captain and OBE holder obviously feels big and powerful from his days in the armed forces and does not understand or care about the feelings of the locals.
