Ros Bradbury of Bradnor Green, Kington, asks is MP guilty over welfare reform?

SO Jesse Norman donated food to Hereford’s food bank (Hereford Times, July 19).

Did Jesse Norman vote for the Welfare Reform Bill that is causing a significant increase in the numbers of people in such extreme poverty that they cannot afford to feed themselves and their families?

Is he supportive of his Government’s various strategies that are designed to dismantle the welfare state that was designed to protect people the from the worst effects of relative poverty?

It is puzzling that an MP, who expresses concern that some of his constituents need food parcels to stave off starvation, is not trying to persuade his friends in Government to change their destructive policies.

ROS BRADBURY, Bradnor Green, Kington .

Surely Bill Wiggin is the MP for the Kington area ? Why ask another MP how they voted, it is on the government website anyway.
Welfare reform is long overdue. We cannot afford to keep giving out handouts to people without having the money in first. Perhaps if some of those seen on TV going for food handouts using their moblie phones cut back on their lifestyle a little and did not think the State owes them a living, we might have a fairer society. But while I work to keep others who never have and never will work, in handouts I feel commetns like that of ms Bradbury are unhelpful.
