Colonel Christopher Short, of Barry, South Wales asks why is hero not buried with SAS?
3:00pm Monday 6th August 2012 in Letters
ON September 8, 2011, you kindly published my letter about, inter alia, the late Sergeant Labalaba of the SAS and I am pleased to see that our local MP Jesse Norman has now raised this issue in Parliament with the Prime Minister (Hereford Times, July 12) and asked that he finally be awarded a posthumous VC which his gallantry and bravery so richly deserve.
In my letter last year I also raised the puzzling question why, after being killed at Mirbat, as he predicted, Sergeant Labalaba is buried, not in the special SAS plot at St Martin’s but a short distance away.
Perhaps his family requested this?
But why is he not with other fallen troopers, NCOs and officers?
