Tony Rees of Little Birch, Hereford, says caring for others could be so costly
8:00am Monday 6th August 2012 in Letters
WE all hear and read about the usual things affecting carers, who care for a family member or for a friend, and it can be really boring.
Well, forget about fatigue, stress, social isolation, and so on.
Think on this: how many of you will have to pay for the privilege of going out of your home to watch Hereford United , or to go for a drink with mates?
Or maybe you want to go shopping and have lunch or a coffee with ‘the girls’? Either of those could cost you £60 or more before you have bought a ticket or a drink under Herefordshire Council ’s proposals for carers that are now out for consultation.
That could be a carer’s reward for working, possibly up to 100 hours a week, for no pay and for saving Herefordshire Council thousands of pounds.
Would you want to do that?
If not, don't become a carer, either for a member of your family or for a friend.
