M R J A Roberts of Cobnash, Kingsland says fabulous response from local NHS
6:00pm Thursday 2nd August 2012 in Letters
I RECENTLY had the misfortune to fall 10 feet from a ladder onto hard concrete.
Not knowing what injuries I might have received my wife telephoned our local surgery at Kingsland where Dr Davis said she would come at once and also called the ambulance service.
Within five minutes there was an ambulance crew plus a paramedic team all of whom did numerous tests and examinations before making me secure with a neck brace and a spinal board for the journey to Hereford County Hospital.
Thanks to the paramedics keeping the hospital informed at least 10 nursing staff awaited my arrival at A and E. The treatment I had there was first rate with more checks and x-rays to determine what damage I had incurred.
It was discovered that I had broken the coccyx at the base of my spine plus two broken ribs, severe bruising and trauma, I was then transferred to the admissions ward for further treatment, all of which was excellent.
We hear much criticism of the NHS but in my case the care I received from the paramedics, ambulance crew, doctors and nurses could not have been any better and I am most grateful to everyone concerned.
