MY wife and I are trying to trace our respective family trees and have reached a point where her great grandmother and my three greats grandfather have origins in Hereford.

It is our intention to visit the Hereford records office in the near future to do some research and possibly visit a couple of villages.

We have however, had some success in writing to local papers in different areas for assistance, hence this letter.

My wife’s relative is Eliza Rogers and she was born in Kings Pyon in March 1861, and passed away in Lower Hardwick, Eardisland , in September 1922.

It appears that she was raised by a family with the surname of Stretch.

My relative is Thomas Davis, who was born in Hereford in approx 1796 and died in Gloucestershire in 1968.

From the censuses he is classed as a brewer. He married in South Hamlet, Gloucester, in 1823 and we have printed confirmation only of his marriage and death.

I tried to find him on various websites and there are dozens of people of that name.

Any assistance would be gratefully received.
