Ken Boaler of Bronte Drive, Ledbury, says police must be better utilised

DR Simon Murphy believes that government cuts in funding will take 500 police officers off our streets (Hereford Times, June 28).

But Tom Winsor, the new chief inspector of constabulary, has concluded, from his recent tour, that “too many police officers are doing two-fingered typing in the police station, rather than being on the streets”.

He also says that he has “seen police officers in the police station queuing for up to four hours to book in a suspect”.
