Neil Thompson of Breinton Lee, Hereford, says city’s leaders just have no idea at all re Widemarsh Street

AS I watched the latest person stumble off the kerb in Widemarsh Street, twisting her ankle, I reflected on Herefordshire Council’s proposals for the re-development of Broad Street and the news that a lack of funding is threatening services and facilities at the County Hospital.

The city’s governing clique clearly loves ever more grandiose projects that the city cannot afford, that somebody else (ultimately the citizens of Hereford) must pay for and during which the city’s assets are effectively given away to developers. Meanwhile, the already inadequate infrastructure of the city falls apart.

Certainly, Hereford does need assistance to help it to weather the current economic crisis. What a shame that the so-called leaders of the city have no realistic idea of what to do or how to do it.

NEIL THOMPSON, Breinton Lee, Hereford.

I've got no sympathy for people who fall of these kerbs. If they don't look where they're walking then its their own problem.
