I AM not qualified to enter into discussions about the arcane convolutions of railway ticket pricing but I must come to the defence of the ticket office staff.
I recently enquired at Leominster station about fares from Leominster to London and I was given excellent advice, the prices quoted being a lot lower with a Senior Railcard than those mentioned by your correspondents (Readers’ Times, May 31).
Obviously a lot depends on the time and day of your journey, but the manner of the enquiry may have some bearing on the answer given.
