Dave Watson of Pixley, Herefordshire, says safer on streets of New York city
8:00am Friday 1st June 2012 in Letters
READING some of the recent incidents of people being attacked, beaten, punched and kicked in our so-called peaceful local towns and city, I sometimes wonder if you’re not safer on the streets of New York or Chicago.
I can tell you, having been there: you are safer.
What the devil is wrong with some of these people whom, it seems you only have to look at to then be threatened, attacked or severely beaten?
And please let’s not have the usual response from authorities: “Crime rates are low in the area and attacks on the person are rare.”
How many times have we heard this rubbish? Too many for my liking.
It’s obvious the police can’t be everywhere, but when caught, some of the punishments on the perpetrators are simply laughable.
I thought we were supposed to have a government that was going to be tough on crime. Doesn’t seem like that to me.
DAVE WATSON, Pixley, Herefordshire.
