Catharine Sadler of Little Birch, Hereford, says another route, a different fare still

WELL done John Lippiatt (Cutting the cost of your train ticket, Readers Times, May 17) for reducing his Hereford to London return rail fare from an expensive £93.05 to £55.90, by splitting his ticket purchases and using a Senior Rail Card.

However, he can save even more money and avoid the annoying upheaval of changing trains at Newport, by catching a straight-through train via Worcester.

Using his Senior Rail Card, the cost of an off-peak return from Hereford to London on this route is just £33.35. They won’t tell you about this at the booking office either, and it will save him a further £22.55.

Enjoy.

CATHARINE SADLER, Little Birch, Hereford.
