Ian Quayle of Fownhope, Hereford, says skill, not prayer, saved footballer

PETE Kelly (Readers’ Times, April 19) appears to ascribe the recovery of Fabrice Muamba, from his cardiac arrest during a football match, to the power of prayer.

More likely it was due to the fact that Dr Andrew Deaner, a consultant cardiologist, left his seat in the stands to supervise Muamba’s resuscitation, then insisted that the footballer be taken to the London Chest Hospital where he worked, rather than the nearest.

And perhaps also to the work of Dr Deaner’s colleague, consultant cardiologist Dr Sam Mohiddin, and an expert medical team.

I think we should give credit to where it is most clearly due.

IAN QUAYLE, Fownhope, Herefordshire.

What wonderful results are achieved when God and man work together

M M, that's an insult to the hard work of the people who kept Fabrice alive.

If God was working to save Fabrice then he could've saved himself a job and not let him go into cardiac arrest in the first place.

That sounds like a poor attempt to explain things you don't understand, i.e. science.
