Stephen Wegg-Prosser of Breinton, Hereford, says relief road plans are undeliverable

YOUR readers will be interested to know that Herefordshire Council is still trying to lead the Local Development Framework (LDF) debate with propaganda rather than facts.
In the administration’s report on the preliminary analysis of the latest LDF consultation on the revised preferred option for Herefordshire, it states under ‘Employment’ that: “City businesses support the development of a bypass and identify that the western route is the most viable option.”
However, what the Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce actually says is: “We have spent a lot of time informing, surveying and listening to local businesses on this consultation response.
“What we have found is that businesses want a relief road, and regard that if west is more deliverable, then that is the way we need to be moving.”
The LDF proposes a relief road, not a bypass. The chamber uses the factually accurate words “relief road” and it stresses the issue of deliverability.
It may want a relief road but it may not be deliverable. Many people now realise that the relief road proposals are undeliverable.
The Highways Agency, the Environment Agency, English Heritage and Natural England are in broad agreement with this.
