Dr Colin Crisswell, Adforton, Adforton, Craven Arms, was happy in class until 70...

WITH regard to Mr Lawes’ letter (Readers’ Times, February 16) on the problems of teaching when old, after I retired at 60 I took a part-time post teaching history at a local FE college. I continued until, at the age of 70, I was made redundant in a general reorganisation.

I enjoyed it thoroughly and had no problem relating to the students nor they to me. As most of them had barely heard of the Second World War, my tales of my childhood during the conflict resulted in them regarding me as a piece of living history.

Now, some years later, I would be quite happy to return to the classroom.

DR COLIN CRISSWELL, Adforton, Craven Arms.
