Angela Wyllie of St Ethelbert Street, Hereford, says wrong body to blame over court

GARY Dipper’s knowledge of the EU is clearly extremely limited.

The deportation of Abu Qatada is opposed by the European Court of Human Rights, which has nothing whatever to do with the EU.

The ECHR was set up in 1959. It was previously part of the Council of Europe, which was founded in 1949 to implement the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, adopted in 1948 by the United Nations.

Wildly wrong remarks like Gary Dipper’s offerings, coupled with constant misinformation in the British press about the EU, contribute to the widespread misunderstanding and ignorance, in this country, of anything to do with Europe.

ANGELA WYLLIE, St Ethelbert Street, Hereford.
