Darren Morgan of Kings Pyon, Hereford, says roads not repaired to a proper state

I RECENTLY complained to the council regarding the state of two of the busiest roads in our city.

Firstly Roman Road, where Crest homes has had at least two goes at patching the trench it dug for the sewerage pipes from the new development. Also the recent ‘resurfacing’ of the top part of Whitecross Road.

The complaint was passed to Amey, which replied that it had had complaints about the Roman Road, which is why Crest dug it up the last time. Amey is now “satisfied”

with the road and Crest has given it a three-year guarantee.

As far as Whitecross Road is concerned: “The surface we put down was the most suitable for the circumstances and was fit for purpose.”

The facts are somewhat different if you actually drive over both roads regularly.

Roman Road is already like a succession of small speed bumps and Whitecross Road is as bad as it was before they resurfaced it.

When I pointed this out to Amey, it declined to reply to me.

If the council’s budget is too small, why waste money on substandard repairs and why let the contractors get away with shoddy road repairs?

DARREN MORGAN, Kings Pyon, Hereford.
