I AM writing to warn all road users, but in particular road users in Herefordshire. I live in Hay-on-Wye and very often travel by car in Powys and Herefordshire – and I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate Powys on the state of their roads.
However, when crossing over the border into Herefordshire, in particular the journey from Hay to Monmouth, I was disgusted by the pothole problems in the road. On my journey on August 18, I was following another vehicle travelling approximately 35mph, with traffic coming the other way at a reasonable speed. The driver in front of me bounced off a pothole onto the side of the road and back again, narrowly missing an oncoming vehicle.
Subsequently, I also hit the same pothole and hope that no long-term damage has been inflicted on my vehicle. Would you please print this letter before somebody gets killed on Herefordshire roads? The council has not only made a mess of the city centre and surrounding traffic infrastructure but we road users are now experiencing this incompetence on a wider scale throughout Herefordshire.
Please warn all drivers in Herefordshire of the state of the roads before someone gets killed.
ROBERT CROOK, Oxford Road, Hay-on-Wye
