AS a taxi operator in Hereford city, I am very pleased to see that the council is going to build a road from Aylestone Hill to Edgar Street, but very disappointed that it intends to restrict traffic in Newmarket Street.
If this council was to take pollution and congestion seriously, we need plenty more roads built around the city for all the local traffic, and not restricting roads to justify the pointless Edgar Street Grid.
The most important road we need built in this city is a link road from Hampton Park to Rotherwas to service the south east of the city and linked to the under-used access road.
This would surely leave more capacity on the A49 for access to Belmont, Whitecross and through traffic which cut down the jams.
