THE statement in the Hereford Times (February 18) that Dilwyn School might soon be closed is seriously misleading and harmful to our efforts to ensure the continuation of primary education in the village of Dilwyn.

There is no question of school closure until the proper process of consultation has been completed and closure is only one of several options for the future of the school that are under consideration.

There is every expectation that a case can be made to Herefordshire Council that the best interests of pupils and of the village community will be served by the schools continuance, either as part of a federation or as it now operates.

The governors and the village community will strenuously oppose any suggestion of closure.
