OVER the past eight years I have held the relevant performance licence allowing me to play music within The Yew Tree Inn at Peterstow (Hereford Times, November 19).

When the time came to renew the licence this year I felt the amount asked was out of all proportion to the size of the premises and I was therefore in dispute with licensing organisation PPL.

I now have the relevant licence in place and have had to pay four times the original amount for the privilege.

You can’t beat the system.

I would also like to take this opportunity to state that I have not bought and have no intention of purchasing any of the equipment from The Castle, Little Birch, and in fact would support the local community in its attempt to get the premises reopened.

PHIL BALLINGER, Owner, The Yew Tree Inn, Peterstow.
