ON Monday, February 9, local radio announced that Herefordshire Council was set to approve plans for the wind farm on Reeves Hill. The Hereford Times of February 12, ran an article stating that the Council was "poised to approve" the plans. I was intrigued! The planning meeting wasn't until 10am on February 12. Guess what, you were both right.
So the man, who in 2001 went on national TV as chairman of the NFU and said the industry wanted funeral pyres of livestock whilst all around farmers were weeping, could soon be the proud owner of the biggest blot on Herefordshire's beautiful landscape.
Perhaps he could use money from his ROC payments to purchase 12 properties in the shadow of the turbines and offer them to the councillors who are such committed environmentalists they ignored Herefordshire's UDP, the Wildlife and Countryside Act, Natural England's recommendation for refusal and the voices of more than 1,000 people. Oh, I've just realised, those councillors have their own homes and livelihoods, they would not want to move, especially as the properties may have no water.
