No way through when there really is

DO any other of your readers share my increasing annoyance at the spate of unreliable ‘Road Closed’ notices which are proliferating the Shobdon and Pembridge areas of the county at present.

Often anonymous ‘Road Closed’ notices are in place, when the road is passable and this results in extensive and needless detours. Worse still the ‘Enquiries’ number turns out to be a call centre where Shobdon is unknown.

I have attempted to contact the highways department of Herefordshire Authority, whose duty it is, surely, to ensure the roads are properly managed, and they seem reluctant to respond to my e-mails. I look forward to the time I can regain my confidence in road signs, and will be given information as to how I can contact those responsible.

Richard Morley, Rocky Lane, Shobdon.
