UST looking at Herefordshire Matters, with the reference to "our approach to waste is becoming increasingly important", I couldn't agree more.
How does the council then explain the recycling policy (around Harold Street anyway) of picking up waste paper and plastic, but not glass. So everyone still has to make an extra trip to the recycling centre to dispose of bottles etc.
If that was picked up at the door, like the other recyclables, unnecessary car journeys would be saved. Or, if the council tax was reduced and we all took our paper and plastic to the recycling with our glass, no extra trips would be made and we'd all save money?
Also what exactly is meant by this: "If you would like this magazine in a different language or format..."
I thought we'd all got over the ridiculous nonsense of wasting public funds on translations into foreign languages. How can this be environmentally friendly - extra print, paper and distribution costs?
As someone who has travelled globally and been involved in the publication of magazines, I am fully aware of the cost of "different formats" and special translations.
If I go to Timbuktu and the local press is printed in the local language then, if I want to read it, I'd better learn the language, not go asking for an English translation.
Just to be clear, I will not support the use of my council tax (public money) to pay for translations of Herefordshire Matters or reproductions in "different formats", whatever that means. The magazine is fine as it is thanks.
Your recycling policies need some rethinking though.
