MY daughter has attention deficit disorder (ADD). She was diagnosed quite late in life and due to the difficulties this had caused she became increasingly distressed at school.
Up until last February she was at a high school with approximately 670 pupils and falling further and further behind, losing confidence to such a degree she was scared to go to school.
This is not a complaint of the school but the number of pupils and the fact my daughter was a bit different' and needed more help to have things explained to her, they just did not have the time.
I was at my wits end when one of the teachers suggested she might be happier at Fairfield. She has been there nearly a year and the difference is amazing.
Fairfield is about half the size of her previous school and the teachers have time to get to know the pupils and to help the less able.
What we need are more small schools where children get the attention they need and teachers can get to know their pupils. It may cost more but these children are our future and deserve the best that can be given.
