I read with interest the possibility that the Alter Cloth at St. Faith's Church in Bacton may in fact be from Elizabeth 1's dress. Given Blanche Parry, the queen's confidante was born in Bacton and went on to serve her for 57 years in around 1590 it may well be that the experts from the south east may discover this is true.

However although there would be security risks in returning the original item to Bacton Village Church this surely should be returned for display in Herefordshire as a valuable asset for tourism our the area.

Some of us will remember our near loss of our medieval Mappa Mundi in the 1990s luckily secured here with the good fortune from a donation from John Paul Getty Junior, thus housing it along with the Chained Library in our wonderful building next to Hereford Cathedral. Could consideration be given to accommodating it there along with our other valuable historical artifacts to prevent this wonderful piece of history moving to the oversubscribed London area?
