REGARDING ideas for improving traffic throughout Hereford (Hereford Times, April, 28):- Firstly, a hopper bus connecting different parts of Hereford, including the train station, the bus stations, the two shopping centres, the hospital, and outlying car parks.

Secondly, information in particular on whether a bus is running as scheduled. Currently buses are re-routed for flooding etc with no prior warning, leaving several passengers waiting for a bus that never arrives. Bus travellers are not psychic!

Bus companies and their drivers do a pretty good job on the whole, sometimes in difficult conditions, and liaising with the public is not down to them. It is down to the council.

The council cannot just keep increasing parking fees and hope people will use the bus instead, if the busses are not there.
