I WOULD like to take this opportunity to thank Herefordshire Council and Cargill for holding the Herefordshire Community Awards on April 29, at the Shire Hall (Champs take centre stage for a change, Hereford Times, May 5).
I am very proud that South Wye Community Association won the Liz Connors Local Community Award for 2016. The event was a great success and as well as winning the award, myself and several representatives of the association were able to meet lots of people who go above and beyond for their community. A number of these people have overcome their own personal challenges and have also worked hard for their communities. We were humbled to be part of such a fantastic group of people!
Well done to everyone involved in the organisation of the event and especially to the other finalists for all their hard work for the community. At Belmont Community Centre we will continue to work with local residents to provide services for all members of the community. We are always looking for additional volunteers, if you would like to join a friendly team please do not hesitate to contact us at the Centre.
