I do agree with Neville Westerman in his letter of March 17 about the refugees.
I have heard a number of accounts on the radio (I do not have a TV) of the really terrible circumstances most of these people are in, crowded together in makeshift camps with primitive sanitory arrangements if any, scarcity of food and shelter, in the cold and wet.
Surely we have a moral duty to co-operate with other European nations, and in fact we could set a lead, as we are one of the richest. Angela Merkel has already given a lead, but as Germany is one of the few willing to help, it has been overwhelmed.
We should consider seriously how we can help and make a more generous offer to relieve as much of the suffering as we can.
