The reporting of local issues and the quality of debate in the columns of the HTimes always stimulates me. But I feel frustrated that I do not know how to find the facts behind the arguments, let alone detailed analysis of budgets.
Jesse Norman's column (readers' times, January 21), says that Cllr Johnson is now ' very open' to an Eastern Link Road (as detailed in our MP's December response to the Southern Link Road Planning application). Can proper business cases be publicly available with the evidence for reasoning and costings of possible outcomes?
I believe ratepayers expect value for money and I worry that work has already started on one of three proposed Holme Lacy Rd panda crossings without answers being given to our parish's concerns.
If there is a clear documented case of research establishing need, alternatives and risks, then this should be available beforehand. Realistic traffic arrangements should be agreed before disruption is caused and money is wasted on ill thought through measures.
I would like rigorous scrutiny and accountability, not rushed decisions without explored outcomes.
