I injured my back recently and, in trying to go upstairs to bed, was stuck halfway, unable to move either up or down.

Having decided that this did not warrant calling an ambulance, we rang NHS 111. We explained the situation to a doctor, who arranged for another doctor to visit, and he arrived within an hour. After examining me, he administered a very powerful painkiller and, 40 minutes later, I was able to walk upstairs to bed.

Both doctors acted in a most professional manner and I wish to thank them for their help and to express my appreciation of the National Health Service 111
