IN the shadow of the tragic (and totally avoidable death) of Mary Evans, who was knocked over by cyclist Daryl Evans in Commercial Street last year, can someone please clarify the matter of cycling in the Cathedral Close?
Before the renovation of the close, cycling was prohibited. However, since the renovation, the No Cycling signs never reappeared.
The result is cyclists regularly weaving around pedestrians and, more worryingly, emerging from the Cathedral Close from the blind entrance next to Knight Frank, across the Broad Street pavement and over the zebra crossing to gain access to the King Street cycle path.
I fear a repeat of the Mary Evans tragedy.
