IN the words of Private Fraser: “We’re doomed”.
Regarding a second river crossing in Hereford, look to your left as you go into town and you will see the other river crossing that carried the railway, which now is only used by pedestrians and cyclists.
Other counties left all their railway lines free to be used as cycle paths and roads, but our short-sighted councillors no longer have that option available. It is now impossible for it to be used for anything else. The leaders of our city have no political will or foresight to plan ahead.
The route east of the city is the sensible way for a bypass, but the likes of Cllr Philip Price only wish to go west as this route goes over council-owned farm holdings that can be sold off for housing.
For him to keep pushing this route shows that there is another agenda and it is not to improve traffic and trade. It is not in the best interests of the city but when have any of the decisions made been for that reason?
