CYCLING in Hereford’s High Town is allowed on certain days and at certain times and these restrictions are shown on an electronic signpost at each end of High Town.

However, you have to look up in the air to see these signs and as we all know, most people don’t read signs anyway.

People who cycle in pedestrianised precincts know full well when it’s not allowed; they just don’t give a damn. So the best thing to do is stop all cycling at all times in pedestrianised precincts and use police officers and cameras to catch the perpetrators and give them heavy fines and community service orders.

To some people these ideas may seem a bit harsh, but one person has already been killed and the potential is there for more injury.
