A KEY mark of any civilised society is ready access to a wide range of cultural opportunities and activities. In Herefordshire, library services have already come under attack and proposals point to even deeper cuts (Hereford Times, August 6).
Herefordshire Council, following in the footsteps of is Thatcherite mentors in the 1970s, has simply provided more evidence, if any more was needed, of its failure to meet the needs of the county’s inhabitants.
It continues to adhere to its guiding principle of setting a low standard that it seldom manages to achieve.
