I WAS sad to read of the death of a pedestrian caused by a cyclist knocking her down (Cyclist jailed over pensioner’s death, Hereford Times, June 25).
As reported, all vehicles are banned in any part of the pedestrianised areas of Hereford between 10.30am and 4.30pm. However, even before and after these times, through traffic is not allowed in St Peter’s Street, the pedestrianised section of Commercial Road or High Town.
I think that cyclists causing distress and danger to pedestrians in Hereford tend not to think of themselves as traffic and to be unaware that they are breaking the law.
A safety campaign to enforce the law would make Hereford a safer place.
