RECENTLY, encouraged by the sunny weather, my husband and I decided to walk from our home in Yazor Road along the public footpath that leads to Moor Street to attend Hereford FC’s first friendly match at Edgar Street.

Our local council is always encouraging us to go green and use its network of footpaths to reach our various destinations. However, why is it that the route we took yesterday has been left to become completely overrun with overgrown trees, bushes, nettles, brambles and litter?

Much of this footpath runs parallel with Bulmers factory and quite frankly the litter in this area was shocking. I can only hope that the litter is a problem due to the non-existent litter bins in the area, but the overgrown hedgerows are surely the council’s responsibility.

Come on, Herefordshire Council, if you want us to use the footpaths more and keep the traffic away from the city centre, then please maintain the footpaths and surrounding areas.
