I WOULD like to reply to Ray Borge’s letter in which he suggests that Leominster May Fair should be taken off the streets and confined to a field.

The larger rides would not be so safe based on grass, especially as it mostly rains in May Fair week, and the field would be a sea of mud.

The May Fair is loved by children and young people, and after all, it is only here for three days out of 365.

Mr Borge points out how difficult it is for some shops, but if they are open 9am to 1pm and 2pm to 5pm, then that is only 24 hours out of the whole year.

In any case, some shops such as the newsagents selling sweets, fast food shops and fish and chip shops benefit greatly when the fair is here.

So I say good luck to the May Fair, the people who run it and the young people who ride on it.
