I just wanted to praise the NHS for the amazing and speedy way that I was looked after and dealt with during my recent visit to Hereford County Hospital.

It seems to get a bit of bad press over waiting times. However, my opinion is that if people decide to waste the A&E department’s time, and demand immediate care for a cut finger, then surely they should expect to wait.

Genuine emergencies are dealt with depending on their severity. I was rushed to hospital with what was a suspected stroke. After being seen very promptly I was taken for a CT scan to rule this out.

Our NHS is stretched to the max, and time-wasting people who could simply put a plaster on or man up are the ones who are constantly complaining about the poor service they receive.

  • Please could I say a big thank you to the County Hospital – especially Women’s Health, Frome and Arrow Wards?

I was admitted with worrying symptoms recenttly and I was very weak.

I received amazing care from all staff and now feel ready to face the world with a huge appetite and a big smile.

I hope to send a little something to Women’s Health for Mr R Subak-Sharpe to spend however he wishes. He was so kind, reassuring and respectful at my most vulnerable time.

I ask that sufficient funds are ploughed into our hospital, and also the Virtual Ward, a service that’s being piloted to care for people at home and avoid hospitalisation if possible.

  •  I would like to say a huge thank you to the doctors, ambulance and nursing staff at Hereford County Hospital who took superb care of me.

They were so kind and caring; nothing seemed too trouble for them. And the food was very good.

I am most grateful for their professional knowledge nursing me back to better health.

  • I arrived at Hereford County Hospital on bank holiday Monday with a badly swollen leg and had to wait for a while to be seen, as you would expect.

The treatment then carried on for 11 days as an in-patient where I was looked after so well. All the people working there were so dedicated and so kind that I just had to put pen to paper to thank them all so much for their care and thoughtfulness.

I know the NHS comes under some flack for one reason or another, but I say credit where credit’s due, you all do a very stressful and demanding job and deserve all the praise you can get.

  • Following a recent accident I attended A&E at Hereford County Hospital. I was very impressed how helpful, considerate, caring and professional everyone was.

From the receptionist to the doctors, nurses, surgeons and porters, I found everyone first class. At a time when we seem to criticise our hospitals, can I offer my thanks to everybody for my excellent treatment.

  • My son had an operation at Hereford County Hospital and I just wanted to applaud and appreciate the hospital staff particularly Tracey and Helen on the children’s ward who were so kind and caring, and the anaesthetist team and recovery nurses and surgeons.

Nothing was too much trouble. Everything from the pre-op assessment, which was excellent, to the smooth systems in place for the admission and operation. It was slick, well thought through, kindly and compassionately delivered, and stress free. I couldn’t have asked for a better service.

We should celebrate the fantastic service we have and reward the dedicated staff who work tirelessly to serve the community.
