WE returned from holiday to find our BT line had been brought down by strong winds – a situation several other residents have already outlined on these letters pages.

Initially we believed it may take a couple of days to rectify the situation but each day arrived with no BT line or sign of repair.

Even though we are retired, we do have commitments which require the use of phone/broadband and the period of 11 days for repairs was very inconvenient.

The fact it took so long was unbelievable in this day and age. People trying to phone us just kept getting an engaged signal rather than a message saying there was a fault on the line, and one friend even travelled from Kington to make sure we were alright.

The problem was exacerbated by the fact that we cannot get a mobile signal in this area.

We feel that BT/Openreach were completely out of order with regards to this breakdown and have had neither an apology nor offer of compensation.
