I REALISE that in the scheme of things, animals are low on the list of priorities for the general election, but I implore anyone reading this to ask candidates where they stand on the Ministry of Defence’s experiments on pigs in this country.

These animals are shot, stabbed, blown up and killed in the never-ending quest to perfect the art of us killing each other.

Ask candidates if they think it morally right to support experiments on animals who share so many of our emotions.

To quote the great theologian, philosopher, physician and Nobel Peace Prize winner Albert Schweitzer: “Until he extends the circle of his compassion to all living things, man will not himself find peace.”

How true.
