WHY do the council want to spend millions tarting up Hereford town centre? The areas beyond the centre need money spent on them. In Redhill we have a postbox we can’t use because of the mud and water around it. Also, cars parking by the Ross Road flats is a problem where it is a one-way system. Herefordshire Housing spent lots of money there, but seemed to forget about parking.

The Route 46 cycle/pedestrian way goes to Grafton from the Great Western Way, and Route 44 to Belmont to join up with the new path to Belmont Park, but one section is mud and water so it’s a no-go area.

There are wooded areas running parallel to both routes that need clearing of dead wood and the woodland floor tidied up, while the wood alongside the mud path needs the same treatment. We may get wild flowers back then. These wooded areas were good in the late 1980s and early 1990s.

Balfour Beatty workmen have done a good job on the trees by the skate park. Let’s hope the youngsters stop leaving litter and broken bottles around.

With a good tidy-up and some evergreen trees with winter berries for the birds, these areas could be a natural nature reserve.
