WITHOUT any doubt, an unsung local hero is Logaston Press, based near Woonton.
For some 30 years the proprietors, Andy and Karen Johnson, have been publishing books which reflect the rich cultural history of Herefordshire, the Welsh Marches and beyond.
Whatever their subject matter - be it architecture, archaeology, the region's manufacturing industries etc - the books are of a consistently high quality and more often than not written by local authors.
Writing as one such author published by Logaston, I much appreciated Andy and Karen's way of going about things. Their attention to detail, their encouraging manner and their ability to keep paperwork to a minimum meant that working with them was a delight.
There must be scores of authors and thousands of readers who owe Logaston a huge debt of gratitude. Its contribution to our region has been, and continues to be, extensive.
So if you have a glass handy, I give you a toast: to Karen and Andy at Logaston Press. Long may they continue.
ROGER KITE Kinnerton, Llanandras
