AS chairman of Herefordshire’s Taxi Association it has been brought to my attention that some drivers operating from the city ranks, but in particular from the nightclub area, are turning down customers who only want to travel a short distance.
The driver will wait and hold out for a more substantial fare to come along.
These drivers are in breach of the law and of their licensing conditions and should be reported to the licensing department.
If this happens to you, please make a note of the time, place and the Hackney plate licence number that starts with an ‘H’ which is clearly emblazoned on the vehicle’s front doors as well as on the taxi plate on the bumper and pass the information on to Herefordshire’s Taxi Licensing Enforcement Officer during normal office hours. The number to contact is 01432 261761.
