I WRITE in response to Mark Whitehouse and his apology for the aggravation TV Licensing has caused me for the second time; the first in 2009 and again over the past few months (Fine tuning, Letters, February 26).

Their incompetence appears to have cost them £100,000 in goodwill payments to a great number of individuals over a six-year period.

The waste of money and aggravation caused by his organisation’s failures do him no favours.

As I stated previously, the elderly and infirm could be pushed over the edge with the stress these extremely nasty letters cause. Some people may even pay the unwarranted demand due to the confusion and distress they create.

At 81, I do not need threats of what to expect if I fail to meet TV Licensing’s demands, and neither does anyone else.
