WELL said, PC and J Wilson and Kirstie Macfarlane (Letters, March 6), the amount of litter, especially along roadsides, in the county is reaching alarming and disgusting levels.
It seems the county council has virtually given up clearing it – at least in the rural areas and smaller towns and villages.
It may be worth exploring the 1975 Litter Act to get something done.
I understand this puts a duty on local authorities to clear litter. If they do not, after being requested, they are in breach of the law.
It may be worth someone getting completely ‘au fait’ with this act and then getting the council to fulfil its responsibilities.
