THE Hereford Times recently published an excellent article on the inequity of fuel prices in the region.
The highest prices were at that time charged by the Texaco garage in Kington where the manager made a feeble excuse that a tanker with the new lower prices had yet to arrive.
I do not believe this. About a year ago, I filled up there and asked why the prices were consistently at least 5p per litre higher than anywhere else in the area. A male employee informed me that “Texaco has the only garage in the Kington area and they can charge what they like as their customers have little choice.”
Since then, I have monitored the garage’s prices and noted that they have been ridiculously high throughout the entire year.
Purchasing power lies with drivers who like me, can make significant savings by boycotting garages with this attitude and buying elsewhere.
