MAY we give our heartfelt thanks to the lady who rang our doorbell at about 5pm on February 2, to tell me that my Alsatian dog had been hit by a car on Barons Cross Road, Leominster, and also to the gentleman who came to tell me that he was the driver of the car that hit the dog.

After inquiring if he and his car were OK, we were in such a hurry to get the dog to the vets (she looked as if she had a broken leg) that we didn’t even ask his name or offer him a cup of tea – he must have been in shock.

We wish to assure him that the incident was not his fault. Unfortunately this dog, a rescue one, has no road sense. She found that the side gate was not properly closed and locked as it usually is, so she bolted into the road.

Luckily she only dislocated her elbow joint which the vet managed to relocate. She is now back home and the gate is firmly locked.

We do hope there are no repercussions to the driver or his car, and we offer many, many thanks.

LES AND JAN HARDY Barons Cross Road, Leominster
