AS a long-established building company in Hereford (since 1957) we write regarding Herefordshire Council’s parking enforcement department.

We question how they can discriminate against commercial vehicles being parked in streets where they are genuinely working in premises and trying to earn a living.

We are finding it very difficult to operate due to a constant bombardment from parking wardens with absolutely no appreciation that hard-working people are trying to earn a living and keep other people in work.

We work in various commercial and private premises all over Herefordshire and rely totally on getting tools and materials to these jobs.

To be expected to go to a car park and then carry heavy duty tools together with cement, plaster, timber as well as taking away all debris from premises is totally wrong.

I am sure that Health and Safety officials would have something to say with the manual lifting of heavy duty items being taken along public pathways.

Would it not be sensible for the operators to apply for a permit from the council to allow them to carry out their work, or is the council deliberately trying to get rid of businesses in Hereford?

The way it is going, it seems it will not take that long! Then how will the council survive with no income from genuine working businesses coming in?

Parking in Hereford is the absolute pits. To be expected to even try and go to do business (ie with banks, solicitors, accountants, doctors, dentists etc) whereby appointments are needed and all too often run over time, is a joke.

Hereford should be avoided at all costs.
